Even the Darkest, Most Ominous Clouds Have a Silver Lining

On June 7, 2012, my lovely mother in law, Eloise, passed away after a sudden illness.  I can’t even express how emotionally devastating this was to my family.  We have been riding a roller coaster of happiness and sadness for the past few weeks, it’s still hard to believe she is no longer with us.

Eloise loved the finer things in life, she was always dressed impeccably and decorated her house without missing a detail.

She is the reason we LOVE food so much.  Eloise introduced fine dining to my husband and great food became as essential to him as water is to most.  We live to eat and so did she.  Every year we would plan our annual holiday shopping trip to the King of Prussia mall but the most important question of the day was, “Where will we be eating lunch and dinner?”  This was what we looked forward to the most, sharing incredible food and stories about life.  I will miss this terribly, our special times together.  She was my mother in law but she was also my friend.

As I was planning her service, I had the opportunity to meet some truly wonderful people.  I knew Eloise had a great circle of friends, some of whom I met on various occasions, but I really didn’t know any of them well.  The friends in her life are caring and compassionate, genuinely good and kind-hearted people who loved her VERY much and have welcomed her family into their lives with open arms.  They have made this process a lot easier by being here and celebrating her life with us.  It’s comforting to know that we will now be able to continue to have a piece of her with us in all of them. This is truly a blessing and the silver lining.

I know Eloise will always be here in spirit…..but she introduced us to some of the most incredible people I’ve ever met without even being in the same room.  I’m so thankful to have them in our lives and look forward to happier days ahead.

We will always love you, Eloise.  Thank you for the wonderful memories we will cherish forever.
