Friday’s Find: Nordic Ware Microwave Egg Boiler (Trust me…you want this.)

I’m not big into kitchen gadgets because my kitchen is TINY…..and I don’t mean it’s small and quant.  It’s super small, like one person and a cat can fit comfortably in there but that is it.  You can’t open the refrigerator when the dishwasher is open and storage is lacking.  However, it’s cute and efficient and I’ve turned out some amazing meals in there.  But gadgets and small appliances need to be kept to a minimum or risk being stored in the garage (where I’ve built a makeshift pantry and kitchen storage area) and not used frequently enough to justify their purchase.

One holiday season while my mother and I were out shopping, my husband called to ask how long you boil an egg for hard-boiled eggs.  There are many opinions on this…..some say put the eggs in the cold water, bring to a boil and then let them sit in the water (stove turned off) for 8-10 minutes depending on doneness. (This is my method!)  Others wait for the water to boil and then put the eggs in continuing to boil (while risk cracking the eggs) for several minutes.  I tried to explain this over the phone and I don’t think he ended up making eggs that day.  It seems like a simple thing to master but the fact is…..I wasn’t even sure of the best way to achieve the perfect hard-cooked egg until a few years ago.  I could roast a mean prime rib but couldn’t boil an egg.  I’m not ashamed.

My mother then saw the perfect opportunity to buy him this Microwave Egg Boiler.  It looks gimmicky with being shaped like an egg and all but it cooks eggs to perfection EVERY.TIME.  We’ve had this for over a year and a half and it gets used at least twice a week.  It makes it so easy to whip up a few eggs to take to the office with you while you get ready for work in the morning.

The only negative is it only makes four eggs so when you’re dying eggs for Easter, you’ll still have to break out the giant pot.

You should order this….really.  Just click here. Then you can easily make The Egg and Bacon Salad Sandwich. (And I want to mention that I’m not being paid for this post or being compensated in any way.)
