Crisp and buttery, this easy to make dessert is what fall is all about. Pear Tarte Tatin is a simple skillet tart that’s rich and flakey. Made with juicy, ripe pears and topped with a puff pastry dough, you’ll wish fall would never end.
Hi y’all! It’s 80 degrees again, where did fall go? I mean, really…I just ordered a truckload of sweaters and have been on a mad hunt for boots because on Sunday….I just couldn’t get warm. And now this Indian summer has blown in and the bees are back…my plants are dying. Really, I’m going to have to buy new mums and my little guy can’t understand why he can’t wear his cable knit sweater. But it hasn’t stopped me from chowing down on crisp fall Royal Riviera Pears from Harry & David. They’re simply amazing all on their own, crisp, juicy and sweet….it’s like a handful of dessert without having to turn on the oven.
But I did….I turned on the oven and I made a simple dessert that really made the pears even more beautiful than they are already. I love to make skillet desserts and have been itching to share a Tarte Tatin with all of you and what better way to enjoy this lovely dessert than with a pile of pears.
If you’ve never had a Pear Tarte Tatin…or any Tarte Tatin before…it’s simply an upside down pastry where the fruit is caramelize in butter and sugar before being baked. I like to use a frozen puff pastry dough…thawed, of course….to make this dessert even more simple. And I even made a little video to show you just how easy it really is.
This Pear Tarte Tatin is such a showstopper….it makes a great addition to any holiday table. Just a few words of caution….when inverting your Pear Tarte Tatin onto a platter, be quick, like lightening, wear an oven mitt and watch out for molten caramel sauce flinging about. Other than that, easy peasy.
And if you love this Pear Tarte Tatin as much as I do….you should definitely add this Bourbon Pear Salad to your holiday menu…or your Sunday menu…or your Monday menu. It’s amazing. Or, if you’re looking for something else to satisfy your sweet tooth, try this Apple Bread Pudding…it’s amazing.
