Easy Grilled Garlic Potatoes in Foil

  • 3 pounds baby Yukon Gold Potatoes
  • 5-6 peeled whole garlic cloves
  • 1 large sweet onion, cut into chunks
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 sprigs fresh thyme
  • kosher salt and fresh ground pepper


  1. Preheat grill.
  2. Lay two sheets of heavy duty foil, approximately 24 inches long, on top of each other and form a bowl.
  3. Arrange the potatoes in the center of the bowl. Top the potatoes with the garlic and onion.
  4. Drizzle the potatoes with olive oil.
  5. Place the thyme on top of the potatoes. Season with salt and pepper, then toss to coat.
  6. Seal the foil pouch on the top and sides. Grill for 25-30 minutes over high heat or until the potatoes are fork tender.
  7. Carefully open the foil packet and serve immediately. 

Recipe Notes

Foil packet can be assembled up to 8 hours in advance and kept at room temperature until ready to grill.
