Tuesday’s Tip: Dirty Microwave, Steam it Clean
This morning I opened my microwave and was horrified. Apparently, not one person in this house covers the food they are heating. It looked like a Jackson Pollock painting.
To make cleaning a baked on mess in your microwave as easy as one swipe of a damp sponge, place a bowl with about 1 1/2 cups of water and a lemon cut in half inside. Turn the microwave on high for 5 minutes and then let the bowl stand for an additional one minute. CAREFULLY, remove the bowl from the microwave and wipe the inside clean with a damp sponge or cloth.
I’ve been using this trick for years and it definitely works.

Oh I LOVE this tip! I had to do this when we moved out of our rental and it was like magic (we never cover our food either)
I’m just baffled that people don’t throw a paper towel over the plate. But I’m guilty too, even though I tried to throw everyone else under the bus.
Ha! A Jackson Pollock painting! I finally got rid of our microwave! One day I just decided we didn’t need it anymore! 🙂
As much as I want to ditch the microwave, it actually is a terrifying thought to think of life without it.
