Ingredients
8 1/2-inchslices heartysturdy bread (Brioche and Challah work well)
1cupEggnog
3large eggs
1 1/2tablespoonsmaple syrup
1teaspoonground cinnamon
1/2teaspoonground nutmeg
1/2teaspoonvanilla extract
1/4teaspoonkosher salt
3tablespoonsbutter
Instructions
In a wide shallow bowl, whisk together the eggnog, eggs, syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and salt.
Dip each bread slice in the egg mixture and allow to soak for 30 seconds on each side. Transfer to a baking sheet to allow the mixture to soak all the way through the bread.
Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a non-stick griddle pan over medium high heat.
Place four slices of dipped bread in the pan and cook until golden brown, approximately 2-3 minutes. Flip the bread over and continue cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
Transfer to a platter and cover with foil to keep warm or transfer to a warmed oven. Repeat with remaining bread slices.
Serve immediately with powdered sugar, fruit or maple syrup, if desired.
