Ingredients
Apple Filling:
5cupsof sliced applesmix of Granny Smith, Gala and Delicious
¼cupAP flour
½cupgranulated sugar
1TBSPground cinnamon
1/8tspground nutmeg
Crumb Topping
½cupbrown sugar
¼cupAP flour
1cupcrushed ginger snaps = 20 Cookies
¼cupwhole oats
¼cupchopped pecans or walnuts
½cupbuttermelted
Garnish
¼chopped pecans or walnuts
Whipped cream
Vanilla Ice Cream
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Peel and slice all the apples and add them to a medium size mixing bowl.
Add the dry ingredients to the apples and mix together using a wooden spoon.
Place the apples in a casserole pan and set aside.
Crumb Topping:
In a small mixing bowl, add all the dry crumb topping ingredients together using a fork. Then add in the melted butter, continue to mix until completely combined.
Spread this topping on the baking dish filled with apples.
Bake for 35-45 minutes, until golden brown on top.
Optional garnish is to add some more nuts (pecans or walnuts) after it comes out of the oven.
Allow to cool for about 10 minutes, and serve with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Apple Crisp can be made up to 3 days in advance but is best served the same day it's baked.
