Ingredients

large ripe tomatoes
sliced 1/4 inch thick

tablespoon
kosher salt
1/2
tablespoon
ground black pepper
1/2
teaspoon
garlic powder
1/2
cup
mayonnaise or aioli

multigrain bread
Instructions
Arrange the tomatoes on a plate and platter.
Season the tomatoes with the salt, pepper and garlic powder.
Spread 1/4 of the mayonnaise or aioli evenly over one side of a slice of bread. Repeat with the remaining bread slices.
Arrange the tomato slices on top of two slices of bread and top with the remaining bread, mayonnaise side down.
Cut in half and serve immediately.
Notes
For maximum flavor, do not refrigerate the tomatoes. Season the tomatoes well 10-15 minutes before assembling the sandwich.
