Chocolate Haupia Pie is a creamy coconut custard pie in a flaky pie crust and topped with whipped cream. A Hawaiian classic dessert that's perfect for summer.

semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350˚F.
Bake crust for 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
Set aside to cool.
Whisk together milk, coconut milk and 1 cup sugar in a saucepan over medium heat.
In a separate bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in water.
Bring coconut mixture to a boil and reduce to a simmer.
Slowly whisk in the cornstarch.
Continue whisking mixture over low heat until thickened.
In a small sauce pan, melt chocolate chips for 1 minute or until melted and smooth.
Divide the coconut mixture in half.
Mix the melted chocolate into half the coconut mixture and pour in bottom of pie crust.
Pour the remaining half on top of chocolate layer.
Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
Top with whipped cream and toasted coconut.
Notes
Haupia Pie can be made up to 48 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
