Easy Peach Crisp

There’s something so simple and rustic about this classic peach crisp recipe that I simply love! The ingredients are minimal, the steps are easy to follow and the results are a fruit crisp that’s even better than grandma’s. And this really goes without saying, but this crisp is SO much better than anything you could heat up from the freezer section!

It all starts with the simple, sweet and spiced layer of peaches. Ingredients like vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon compliment the fresh peaches beautifully without overpowering the natural juicy and sweet flavors we’re all craving. Sometimes, simple really is best and this recipe proves it. It’s so good, we made an apple crisp just like it!

The buttery, crumbly oat topping is also worth swooning over! Oats, butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, flour and just the right amount of butter create the very best texture and flavor. The way it bakes to crispy perfection on top of the peaches is absolutely heavenly! Oh, and your kitchen is going to smell better than any candle ever could when you bake it all together.

Ingredient Notes

Let’s take a quick little look at what you’ll need to make the best peach crisp! For the exact measurements, keep on scrolling all the way down to the recipe card.

For the topping

  • All-Purpose Flour – I always recommend spooning the flour into the measuring cup instead of dunking the cup right into the bag. When you dunk the cup directly into the flour, you end up really packing it in there.
  • Dark Brown Sugar – You can use light brown sugar instead if that’s what you have, but the flavor will differ slightly.
  • Cinnamon – You can always sprinkle in a little bit more for a more pronounced warm flavor.
  • Salt – If possible, try to use kosher salt (not iodized).
  • Butter – It’s gotta be cold!
  • Oats – Make sure you’re using old-fashioned rolled oats for the best texture.

For the filling

  • Peaches – Fresh peaches are preferred for the best flavor and juicy consistency! You can use frozen or canned peaches, but the results will vary.
  • All-Purpose Flour
  • Sugar – White granulated sugar creates just the right amount of added sweetness to compliment the peaches.
  • Cinnamon and Nutmeg
  • Vanilla – I always like to use pure vanilla extract when I can. Of course, imitation will also get the job done in a pinch.
  • Salt

How to Make Easy Peach Crisp

The steps for this recipe really could not be any easier! Keep on scrolling down to the recipe card for a full breakdown of the process.

  1. Prepare. Preheat the oven to 350°F. While that’s heating up, coat your baking dish with some nonstick spray.
  2. Make the topping. Whisk together the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt to combine. Work the butter into the mixture until crumbly – I usually use a pastry cutter to do this, but two forks also works just fine! Once pea sized pieces form, fold in the oats.
  3. Make the peach filling. Add the peaches and all other filling ingredients to a bowl and give it a good couple of tosses to combine. Be gentle, as you don’t want to mush the peaches.
  4. Assemble and bake. Spread the peaches into the baking dish and top it off with the oat topping. Bake for 45 minutes.
  5. Enjoy! Place the golden brown crisp on a wire rack and let it cool off for about 10 minutes before serving.
