Easy Cinnamon Sugar
Add a little pop of flavor to your favorite recipes with this quick and easy Cinnamon Sugar recipe. Two simple ingredients, blended together, ready for topping your buttered toast, creamy oats or freshly baked muffins. Keep a bit batch on hand to sweeten up your favorite things in an instant.
Cinnamon Sugar
I used to live on cinnamon toast when I was little. I could eat it night and day….and pretty much did. I’d whip up the easy cinnamon sugar by dumping a bit of sugar and a bit of cinnamon into the center of a paper towel, then sifting it back and forth to mix it up. It was a very highly scientific process…as you can see.
Then, I’d toast up some white bread, butter the heck out of it (we love butter in our family) so that little pools of melted goodness hung around a bit, then sprinkled the whole lot of cinnamon sugar onto the toast. Voila, homemade cinnamon toast. I loved when the cinnamon sugar soaked up the butter like a crazy easy cinnamon roll….gooey and amazing. Drooling yet?
I still make Cinnamon Sugar to sprinkle on my toast but it’s so great on so many other things like my morning bowl of oatmeal. It totally makes my steel cut oats taste like something totally sinful but isn’t overloaded with sugar…..well, most of the time.
But what I love the most about this Cinnamon Sugar recipe is that it’s so simple to prepare with ingredients you definitely have in your kitchen right now! And you can keep it on hand, in the pantry, at all times.
How To Make Cinnamon Sugar
This recipe is super easy to make in just 30 seconds.
- Simply add the sugar and cinnamon to a bowl.
- Whisk to combine. That’s it!
If you want to make cinnamon sugar toast, add about another 3 minutes to your time….because it will take about 3 minutes to toast your bread. Spread edge to edge with with salted butter and then sprinkle with a healthy spoonful of your newly made cinnamon sugar!
The Perfect Cinnamon Sugar Ratio
You can really play around with your cinnamon sugar recipe to find what you like best but I really like to start with 1 cup of sugar to 1/4 cup of cinnamon.
Cinnamon strength can vary depending on the brand, where your cinnamon is from, how fresh it is, etc. So, I would start with 1 cup of sugar to 2 tablespoons of cinnamon and then add more cinnamon as needed.
How to Use Cinnamon Sugar
There are sooooo many ways to use your cinnamon sugar recipe almost daily!
- Sprinkle on your homemade French Toast
- Add a spoonful to your Waffle batter before waffle ironing!
- Stir into your morning oats.
- Sweeten your afternoon or morning coffee.
- Make these easy candied almonds.
- Make a batch of Palmiers.
- Brioche Toast is made even more heavenly!
So, besides making cinnamon toast every single day which I most definitely don’t (maybe every other day) you can totally use your imagination. Like in these Pancakes!
