Lavender Lemonade

Floral flavors are often ignored, and that’s such a shame! During the spring and summer, we all tend to turn our attention towards fresh fruit recipes. However, floral flavors like lavender, rose, hibiscus, and elderflower are just as refreshing and delicious on a hot day! This drink recipe is especially refreshing, as it’s a cool glass of lemonade (already a summertime favorite) with lovely notes of floral lavender.

To keep this beverage as fresh as possible, be sure to make your own Lavender Syrup instead of buying it from the store! It’s such an easy recipe and only calls for a few inexpensive ingredients. It lacks all of the preservatives you’d find in a store-bought container, and you can really taste the difference in freshness and potency. This lavender lemonade is best when made with natural, fresh ingredients – not artificial flavors. That’s why I also highly recommend using real freshly squeezed lemon juice, too! It makes a world of difference.

A pitcher of vibrant purple lavender lemonade is sure to be a show stopper at any party or event. In a room filled with drinks like Sweet Tea and Classic Lemonade, shake things up with this unique, gorgeous purple drink! And yes, if you’re wondering, it mixes wonderfully with alcohol like gin or vodka. Just add a few ounces to the pitcher and stir it in for a boozy floral treat! Whether you make this lemonade for grown-ups, kids, or anyone in-between – it’s sure to be a huge hit.

How to Make It

This recipe really couldn’t be any easier! You’re going to love making a quick batch of lavender lemonade just before a party.

Stir. In a large pitcher, stir together the lemon juice, water and lavender syrup.

Add color. Add a few drops of food coloring, if desired.

Enjoy! Serve this lavender lemonade over ice, and enjoy every cool, floral, tangy sip.

If I’m making this a cocktail, how much vodka or gin should I add?

When adding vodka or gin, it’s important to not add too much. The fresh lavender and lemon flavors are very gentle in this recipe and can easily be overpowered by the very strong flavors of vodka or gin. One cup of liquor should do the trick. If you want to add more, or if you really just want to mask the flavor even more, consider adding just a little bit more lemon juice and lavender syrup until you get the taste just right.

How long will lavender lemonade stay fresh?

In the refrigerator, homemade lavender lemonade will stay fresh for about a week! Try to keep it in a pitcher that has a lid for the best results. As it’s made with natural ingredients, it may separate a bit in the pitcher, especially if it’s uncovered. Just give it a quick stir before pouring and you should be good to go!

Can I make lavender lemonade sweeter?

Yes, and there’s a much tastier way to do that other than just stirring in white granulated sugar. While I think this lemonade is perfectly sweet from the homemade lavender syrup, you can add more sweetness to it if you’d like by stirring in a tablespoon of honey to the pitcher. I recommend stirring it in before the lemonade gets cold, as honey mixes with room temperature water far better than cold water. It’s a natural way to add a touch of sweet flavor to an already incredible drink!
