French Bread Pizza
Is your life feeling a little bit too crazy lately? So crazy, in fact, that you just want to order a pizza for dinner because you can’t imagine making a full dinner? While I’m usually a big advocate for treating yourself to your favorite pie from a local pizza joint, I think I’ve got just the recipe to satisfy your cheesy, saucy cravings without stressing you out even a little bit. Plus, it’ll cost you less money!
French Bread Pizza is here to save the day. All you need for this quick, easy, budget-friendly and craving-satisfying dinner is french bread, olive oil, garlic, pizza sauce, and whatever cheeses and toppings your heart desires. Plus, making any kind of pizza at home always comes with one big benefit… You can make it exactly how you like it! Extra cheese for me, please.
Have any picky eaters in the house? They’ll love this dinner! It’s really fun to let all of your friends and family members dress up their own slice of french bread just the way they want it. Some people may like extra sauce, fresh basil, red pepper flakes, or even anchovies! This easy recipe allows everyone to get creative and enjoy the exact serving of French Bread Pizza that they’re craving.
How to Make French Bread Pizza
If you’re having a makeshift pizza party, place all of the different toppings in little bowls and let everyone decorate their own pieces!
Toast the bread. Preheat your oven to 425°F. Brush the halves of french bread with olive oil, then place it in the oven to toast until crisp.
Assemble. Spread the sauce, sprinkle the cheese, and add whatever toppings you want to your slice of toasted french bread.
Toast it again. Set the oven to broil. Put the assembled French Bread Pizza back in the oven and cook until the cheese is melted and bubbling!
A helpful tip: Keep a watchful eye on your french bread when it’s first toasting and again when the pizza is actually cooking. It can burn very fast at either stage, so don’t stray too far away from the oven.
Can I make French Bread Pizza ahead of time?
Here’s the deal. French Bread Pizza is a quick dinner that’s best enjoyed fresh. While it will stay fresh in the fridge in an airtight container for about 2 days, it’s never quite as tasty as it is when it’s first made. If you do have leftovers to reheat, I recommend popping them back in the oven or your air fryer until warmed through so the bread stays crispy. I’m usually not against my microwave, but it really will kill the consistency of the crunchy french bread.
What kind of sauce should I use?
You can always feel free to take things a little easy by using store-bought pizza sauce. However, if you have an extra 5 minutes to play with, I definitely recommend my No Cook Pizza Sauce! It comes together in mere minutes and lends so much robust tomato flavor to these little pizzas.
What kind of toppings should I add?
The options here are so limitless! Some of my favorite toppings include (but are never limited to):
- Extra cheese
- Pepperoni
- Sausage
- Veggies (mushrooms, bell pepper, onions)
- Anchovies
- Pineapple
- Black olives
And more! Get creative and enjoy every bite of your customized French Bread Pizza.
