Prepare to meet your new favorite way to make a salad flavorful – Green Goddess Salad Dressing! This veggie packed, freshly flavored, and vibrant dressing can make even the blandest of tossed greens exciting. Made with ripe avocados, fresh herbs, and so much more, this dressing is as delicious as it is gorgeous!

A small glass jar of green goddess dressing is placed on a white surface with a blue and white spoon.

I’m all about making my salad dressings with fresh ingredients and this Green Goddess Dressing is no different.

This easy to make Trader Joe’s Copycat Green Goddess Dressing is filled with all natural ingredients that compliment each other in a beautiful way. When you see this dressing all blended up, the first thing you’ll notice is the stunning green hue, hence the name “Green Goddess!”

What creates that vibrant color is the combination of avocado, fresh herbs, and green onions. There are other things in there that enhance those flavors even more, but those are the real green stars of the show.

Obviously, the most common (and arguably best) way to use your salad dressing is on a Green Goddess Salad! However, there are plenty of other ways to utilize your new favorite dressing.

Toss it in your favorite pasta salad, use it as a dip for grilled meats and veggies, smear it in a sandwich or wrap, etc. The options here are pretty limitless!

How to Make Green Goddess Dressing

Blend, enjoy, repeat. It’s that easy!

  1. Blend. Place all the ingredients, except salt and pepper, in the pitcher of a blender and puree until smooth.
  2. Season. With salt and pepper, to taste.

How To Store Leftover Green Goddess Dressing

The only downside of making salad dressings at home is that they don’t stay fresh for as long as the store bought bottles. But, the upside is that they’re not loaded with preservatives to keep them fresh for an unnatural amount of time! Homemade Green Goddess Dressing will stay fresh in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. I don’t recommend freezing it.

Herb-y Delicious Flavor

The consistency of this dressing is delightfully thick and creamy, thanks to the avocado base. The flavor is fresh as can be from all of the fresh green ingredients! It’s a little tangy, very herbaceous, and oh so bright. Since you’re making it at home, you can add more or less of your favorite stand out ingredients like the lemon juice and basil to alter the flavors to your liking. That’s another benefit of making your own dressings at home – you get to control exactly what goes into them!

I haven’t tried this yet. I thought Green Goddess dressing had anchovy in it. Is that sometimes used?

    1. Kellie says:

You can use anchovy or anchovy paste, this is made without it due to food allergies. Anchovies can trigger allergic reactions for people that are allergic to shellfish.

  2. Janet says:

Can you use dried herbs. I can’t get some of the fresh oned.

    1. Kellie says:

I haven’t tested it with dried herbs so I can’t say for sure.
