Boozy Peppermint Mocha Coffee
A super easy cocktail coffee drink, this Peppermint Mocha Coffee recipe is so festive for the holiday season. Made in just minutes, this Starbucks copycat is a huge crowd pleaser! I even include instructions for a non-alcoholic version, too.
Peppermint Mocha
The holidays are upon us and so is the ultra busy schedule. With all the hustle and bustle this time of year it’s nice to find some time to wind down with a few friends to enjoy a slower pace activity like watching Hallmark Christmas movies or shopping together……online.
I like to invite my friends over for a cup of coffee but while the kids are running through the house screaming at the top of their lungs because the elf moved six feet to the left last night, sometimes I need something a bit stronger than my usual cup of coffee. Enter this Boozy Peppermint Mocha Coffee which takes about the same amount of time to make as your regular coffee.
I’m a big fan of the Peppermint Mocha at my local coffee house and this Peppermint Mocha recipe can be made either with alcohol or without. It’s nice to have a non-boozy version to enjoy during the week when the kids are off at school and you’re catching up on the second half of Elf for the 37th time this year.
How To Make a Peppermint Mocha Coffee
Making a non-alchoholic Peppermint Mocha Coffee drink is so easy to do:
- Pour 1 cup brewed coffee into a cup.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup, 1 tablespoon mint syrup (or a drop of peppermint extract will do if you can’t find peppermint syrup….but just a drop will do ya, it’s potent!) and 2 tablespoons milk or cream. Stir to combine
- Top with whipped cream, crushed candy canes and more chocolate syrup.
- Serve immediately.
To make a Boozy Peppermint Mocha:
- Pour 1 cup brewed coffee into a mug or cup.
- Stir in 1/2 ounce creme de menthe and 1/2 ounce chocolate liquor. Stir to combine.
- Add 2 tablespoons heavy cream and 1/2 teaspoon sugar, if desired.
- Top with whipped cream, crushed peppermint candies and sprinkles, if desired.
If you want to cheat a little bit, you could even purchase Peppermint Mocha creamer but it’s sometimes hard to find this time of year because everyone is feeling a bit lazy so I like to keep these easy latte recipes under my belt for quick entertaining.
Tips To Brew Perfect Coffee in a Coffee Maker
- If you buy whole bean coffee, be sure to grind your beans as close to the brewing time as possible. For a coffee maker, you want a medium grind….too fine and your coffee will taste bitter…..too course and your coffee will taste flat.
- If using tap water, be sure to let the water run for a few seconds before filling your pot and always use cold water. Never use distilled or softened water.
- The general guideline for your coffee to water ratio is one to two tablespoons ground coffee to every six ounces of water. You can adjust this to suit your own preferences.
- I like to use a coffee tamper to press down the grounds in the filter just a bit so the water runs evenly through the grounds to extract the flavor. This isn’t a must but I found it does affect the flavor for the better. But it could also just be a head game. 🙂

Remember, it’s always 5:00 somewhere. I think this would make a great breakfast drink to go with a second and a third. OK. Add a dark chocolate biscotti….. hey it’s Christmas so who cares? There’s 364 days left to repent.
Steelers 11/1.
I use hazelnut coffee, use vanilla creamer, dollop of whipped cream and drizzle with Carmel!! Yummy
That sounds so amazing!
I love to add just a touch of 1/2 and 1/2 to my coffee with some cinnamon!
That’s so good!
Yum! Can’t wait to try this!! I’m pretty boring with my coffee but Love the idea that you can change the strength!!! I need it strong for sure. I also like to add coffee to my chocolate shakes in the AM.
Great idea!
