Beach Party Pudding Shots
It’s official – summer is here, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with these adorable Beach Party Pudding Shots! They’re deliciously sweet and tropical flavored, topped with candy, perfectly boozy, and perfect for snapping plenty of pictures of. The best part? They’re also incredibly easy to make. Let’s get this party started!
Beach Party Pudding Shots
It’s impossible to not have fun with a Beach Party Pudding Shot in your hand. I mean, just look at that little gummy bear! He looks like he’s floating in the water at the beach, complete with a floatie and sand. I dare you to try and make these adorable pudding shots without smiling! Oh – and if you have any little ones in the house, you may want to consider making them a few rum-free servings of these shots. They’ll be all too interested in these adorable adults-only treats!
Chances are, you’ve had your fair share of Jello shots at one point or another. While I do love a good Jello shot, I think they’re a tad bit overdone… Which is why this summer, I can’t wait to serve these pudding shots! They’re pretty unique in the fact that they’re pudding, as opposed to the typical Jello you see at plenty of summer gatherings. These little shots are always a huge hit – they’re different, topped with candy, sweet, and perfectly creamy. It’s like a dessert and a shot all in one.
The list of ingredients you need to whip up a batch of these pudding shots is short, sweet, and to the point. The most expensive ingredient on the list is the coconut rum, and even that shouldn’t send you over budget if you find a good quality middle shelf bottle. Other than that, all you’ll need is instant pudding mix, milk, food coloring, graham crackers, and candy!
How to Make Them
Prepare. On a tray, set out your cups and set aside for later. This is also a good time to make sure you have room in your fridge for the tray of pudding shots!
Make the pudding mixture. Add your pudding mix to a large bowl. Whisk in 2 cups of cold milk and 1 cup of coconut rum and a few drops of blue food coloring. Whisk until it’s smooth.
Fill the cups. Carefully pour or spoon the mixture into the cups almost all the way up.
Decorate the cups. Sprinkle a little of the graham cracker crumbs on half of the shot. Place a gummi ring on each one and then cut a gummy bear in half and stick one in each ring.
Chill. Keep these refrigerated until ready to serve and keep cool while serving.
Variations to Try
- Some people prefer the 1 ounce cups for these shots, and those work well too! You’ll just get more shots out of each batch.
- This recipe is really easy to double or triple (and I recommend it!) Pudding shots tend to go very quickly at parties, and it’s always sad when they’re all gone. Plan accordingly!
- If you think these will be too strong, you can use ½ cup rum and 2 ½ cups milk. Likewise, you can make them stronger by using 1 ½ cups of milk and 1 ½ cups rum.
- You can also use green apple or watermelon gummy rings, whichever you can find.
- You can substitute teddy grahams for gummy bears if you like.
Can I make these shots ahead of time?
You sure can! Without the toppings, your pudding shots will stay fresh in the fridge for about 3-4 days. Just make sure all of your little plastic cups full of pudding shots are covered tightly with their lids, so the pudding stays fresh and doesn’t develop a film! Once the shots are topped with the candy and graham crackers, they’re best served within the next few hours, so the toppings don’t start changing their consistency.
