Best Margarita

Countdown to Cinco de Mayo has begun and Friday will be an especially festive Happy Hour for most! We don’t really do much unless we’re invited to a party but this week our new fence will be going in….the lounge chairs for the pool will be delivered and I plan to break them in while staring at my empty pool with a Classic Margarita in hand.

We have made so much progress the past few days and I’m getting REALLY excited to have my own little resort (minus the Swedish massage therapist and 24 hour bartender) in my backyard.

What is a Margarita

A Margarita is a Mexican cocktail made of lime juice, tequila and sometime an orange liqueur. It’s fresh and fruity, perfect for a warm summer day. It can be served shaken with ice, blended with ice (Frozen Margarita) or on the rocks.

I’m already starting to dabble in the cocktail making area so I plan to have a ton to share this summer here on The Suburban Soapbox. I only have a few on here so far like this Bloody Margarita and my favorite Palmetto Bloody Mary, so I’m going to start off with some tried and true party pleasers like this Classic Margarita Recipe.

The key to making it the best ever is in the fresh squeeze lime juice. It’s a must….don’t you dare buy it in a bottle. Buy a ton of limes….pop them in the microwave for a few seconds…and squeeze. And squeeze. And squeeze. But when you think you’ve squeezed enough…squeeze some more. And, again, do not dare use bottled lime juice. Just.Do.NOT.

How To Make a Margarita

This easy Margarita recipe is incredibly simple to make. I like to use a cocktail shaker and you can even start with my homemade Margarita Mix, if you like.

  1. Combine the tequila, cointreau and lime juice in a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Shake to combine.
  3. Pour over ice in a salt rimmed glass and serve immediately.

A little bit will go a long way in this Classic Margarita Recipe. It’s served on the rocks with a salt rimmed glass, or not…if you’re not a salt fan.

But, for what it’s worth, I was a margarita salt hater because I never tried it. Once I took a sip, accidentally of course, I was forever converted. I will never go back to a naked glass again. Salt all the way.

What to Serve With Margaritas

This Classic Margarita Recipe is a must have for any Cinco de Mayo party….or empty pool party. Serve it alongside some cheesy baked nachos….this AMAZING White Queso Dip or my favorite Queso Fundido. Or….just with a big bag of chips.
