Chilled Strawberry Soup Recipe // Video
Inspired by the version served at the majestic Grand Floridian Hotel in Disney, this Chilled Strawberry Soup recipe is a little lighter but tastes even better than the original. Easy to make in just a few minutes, you’ll be whipping it up all summer long!
Chilled Strawberry Soup
Let’s talk about Walt Disney World for a moment. I absolutely love it there. It is the happiest place on earth. At least the memories you keep are always that it’s the happiest place on earth. While you’re there, it’s fun…and clean….and amazingly magical.
Even the food….it’s magically delicious and keeps you craving it for years to come. Enter this refreshing Chilled Strawberry Soup that I enjoyed at the 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian Hotel buffet and had to recreate at home.
It’s light, creamy and perfect. We love whipping this up for spring and summer brunch but it’s even better for a holiday like Easter. Serve it up in shot glasses for a bridal shower or just sip it on the porch for a satisfying sweet treat.
Even better, this easy Strawberry Soup is ready in minutes.
How To Make It
Wash and hull the strawberries drying them with a paper towel.
Add the strawberries and other ingredients to a blender.
Puree until smooth.
Serve in a bowl with a dollop of whipped cream and a sliced strawberry.
I dream about the Chilled Strawberry Soup regularly. It’s so light and creamy, smooth and sweet. My version is a little lighter than the recipes I’ve seen online when doing a little research.
And unlike the Disney version I keep seeing, I use fresh strawberries, not frozen. I also replaced the often used sour cream with low-fat greek yogurt and the heavy cream with half and half.
For this recipe, I totally skipped out on the sour cream and used all low-fat greek yogurt then blended it all into a velvety puree. Kinda like a really loose smoothie. It’s like a Fresh Strawberry Soup that’s fantastic when using those amazingly bright and vibrant IN SEASON strawberries.
Can I use frozen strawberries?
You can definitely replace the fresh strawberries with frozen but be sure to thaw them before blending or you’ll just end up with a smoothie.

Wife loved it
Oh great! I’m so happy to hear that!
I am so looking forward to trying your recipe for Chilled Strawberry Soup. I had it as a first course at a High Tea in February. It was so amazing. I appreciate that your recipe includes salt, because the after “mmm” salt was the last taste.
I’m so glad you found us! This is my favorite soup. 🙂
Hi Kellie!
I love that his soup is lower in calories by using yogurt and half and half. Will low-fat vanilla greek yogurt work with this recipe as well? Look foward to trying this recipe. Thanks!
It will definitely work with the vanilla yogurt, may add a little more sweetness so add a little less sugar and taste to decide if you want more.
That’s a great idea!
This sounds so refreshing! I love strawberries and they have so many health benefits!
I wonder about the lime. Is it just the juice of the lime or the whole lime rind and all or maybe just the insides of the lime?
Hi Barbara! Thank you for visiting! You’ll want to squeeze the juice out of the lime and add all of the juice to the recipe. Discard the remainder of the lime. Enjoy!
Thanks Kellie. I know it will be a hit.
Now you have me dreaming about Disney … it’s been a few years since we last went. But I cannot wait to go again. And this soup looks delicious!
This post makes me want to go to Disney World! And eat strawberry soup <3
Beautiful soup – perfect for Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Easter….
SO pretty – looks delightfully refreshing. I know my 19-month old would love that. 🙂
My mom always loved making fruit soups in the summer, so this is the perfect dish to honor my mom. But I wouldn’t mind if my kids made it for me 🙂
I had the Strawberry Soup at the Grand Floridan years ago, and I still daydream about it. And I’m bringing my kids to Disney in August and now you have me very scared 🙂
I was going to say the same thing Erin said, haha! This sounds delicious!
It’s like a strawberry smoothie with a spoon! And I love it! So pretty.
Not only does this sound delicious but it is beautiful to behold.
I need to go to the grocery store right now. Favorite Disney food. Perhaps I will look for straws while I am there.
