We’re just a couple short weeks away from Christmas and I have a few goodies I’m ready to give away….it’s my first annual MY FAVORITE THINGS week! Yay! Every day this week I’m going to be gifting my absolute favorite items to a new lucky winner each day. And I’m covering all the bases here….from my favorite workout gear to my favorite food items (hint, I give this one as a gift to friends and family every single year for almost a decade!). Are you excited???? I’m excited!!!
But first….let me share a little story with all of you, I’ll make it short so we can get to the good stuff (like the Easy Gingerbread Cheesecake Smoothie you all came here for.) About a year ago, I was struggling with a bit of depression because of a shoulder injury. I injured it sometime in the summer and it was getting worse by the day. The pain was debilitating and I could barely move my arm. I was losing sleep and worried it was something really serious because….Dr. Google said so. I finally got up the nerve to go see a doctor….after a few x-rays, one MRI and a diagnosis of severe tendonitis I decided it was time to move. I stopped running in the summer because of the pain so I wanted to find something that was going to hold my attention and force me to move my arm little bits at a time. Spinning ended up being my exercise of choice.
The first spin class I took was not really my finest 45 minutes. I felt lost and confused and I think I sat in the seat for most of the class but I went back again…..and again….and before I knew it I was hooked. The classes are challenging, motivating and uplifting. It allowed me to work out at my own pace and finally rehabilitate my shoulder without stepping foot in the physical therapists office. For anyone looking to change up their workout or start a new workout program, you should definitely check out a local spin studio. And don’t give up after just one or two classes….go back a few times and I guarantee….you’ll become an addict, too.
To keep energized during my workouts I try to satisfy my sweet tooth while packing in some healthy stuff. This Easy Gingerbread Cheesecake Smoothie is one of my favorite protein packed snacks. It’s quick and simple, perfect for breakfast or a great post workout snack. It’s VERY similar to this Strawberry Cheesecake Smoothie except I ditched the strawberries then spiced it up with molasses, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice and vanilla. A frozen banana thrown into the mix makes it extra creamy without it becoming overly icy from a bucket full of ice cubes.
I like to whip up an Easy Gingerbread Cheesecake Smoothie as a grab and go snack when I head to my local spin studio. It’s light, creamy and ready in about 2 minutes. While the blender’s running I slip on my new favorite thing….my Tiem Slipstream Cycling Shoes. That’s right…I can wear my new spinning shoes TO the studio. They look just like regular running shoes with a hidden cleat on the sole so you’re ready to hop right on your bike as soon as you arrive. Soft, flexible and breathable…they are THE most comfortable spin shoe you’ll ever put on your feet. AND now YOU can enter to win a pair of your very own using the entry form below! Your choice of color in your size…..now you have no reason to join me and ride to a healthier YOU!
And if you’re looking for more smoothie inspiration because you know…..the New Year is right around the corner….you HAVE to try this Pear Ginger Green Smoothie AND this Pumpkin Pie Smoothie….which tastes just like pumpkin pie. No lie.
