Easy Strawberry Banana Smoothie Recipe
Quick, sweet and healthy, the BEST Strawberry Banana Smoothie recipe is so simple to make in just a few minutes. Whip this one up with only a handful of ingredients you already have in the kitchen and be on your way with a cool treat to start your day or fuel your workout.
Who’s fallen off the healthy eating wagon already? (maybe, me.) I’m not big on resolutions but the holiday treats have certainly taken a toll on my waistband….it’s struggling. The struggle is real and so I put on sweatpants. That’s so not my thing but I do need to start eating a bit healthier because….believe it or not, summer’s coming!
So, let’s pull it back together this week. We can all still treat ourselves but this diet of pizza and cookies and cake is seriously not working. And since I work out every single day I’d like to see progress going the other direction. And so, I give you….my most favorite Strawberry Banana Smoothie recipe ever made.
I like simple smoothie recipes I can whip up in minutes, This easy Strawberry Banana Smoothie is made with just a few ingredients that I always have in the house. It’s a just throw everything in the blender and whirr away for about a minute until it’s all smooth and creamy. I don’t like to use ice in my smoothies because they get watered down and really, ice adds nothing….no flavor, no national value…nothing. So, trust me when I say…you won’t need it in this recipe.
What is a Strawberry Banana Smoothie good for?
I love to make a Strawberry Banana Smoothie with yogurt in the morning for a quick, easy and healthy breakfast. It’s fantastic to make before leaving for work in the morning and enjoying during your morning commute, this was a go-to on-the-go breakfast when I worked outside the home.
In addition to a breakfast smoothie, this Strawberry Banana Smoothie recipe is also wonderful as a post workout snack. You can even throw everything into the blender before you leave for the gym, store it in the fridge and then blend it when you get home so it’s cool and smooth. A great way to restore your energy, feed your muscles and cool off…how’s that for efficiency!

My FAVORITE Ingredients for Smoothies
I like to mix things up on the smoothie front by switching up the ingredients. For this Strawberry Banana Smoothie I used the following ingredients:
- Greek Yogurt
- FROZEN Strawberries
- Low fat milk
- Honey (or other natural sweetener)
That’s it! And I used the frozen strawberries because it adds a frosty creaminess to the smoothie that’s simply amazing….almost like dessert! Frozen fruit allows you to skip the addition of ice but if you want to make it even thicker then certainly throw in a few ice cubes to the mix to add bulk to the smoothie.
Some other ingredients I love to add to smoothies are:
- Pineapple…frozen or fresh
- Chia Seeds
- Cacao nibs
- Chocolate Chips
- Frozen cherries (make sure they’re pitted!)
- mango….frozen or fresh
- coconut milk
- spices like cinnamon, nutmeg or ginger
- greens like spinach or kale
- avocado….adds so much creaminess
Here are a few of my favorite, BEST EVER SMOOTHIE recipes!

Are Strawberry Banana Smoothies healthy?
A smoothie is only as healthy as the ingredients you’re adding and since we’re not tossing donuts into the blender (now THERE’s an idea!), this easy Strawberry Banana Smoothie recipe is pretty healthy. I like to use a low fat greek yogurt, low fat milk and just a touch of honey to keep sugar low, as well as, calories in check.
A splash of vanilla adds a little sweetness and a pop of flavor making this easy smoothie recipe taste like dessert. You can add chia seeds to the smoothie to bulk it up a bit, skip the honey if your bananas are really on the ripe side (really ripe bananas are much sweeter than yellow bananas.)
This simple smoothie recipe is just like the one they serve at Starbucks…..also, similar to the McDonald’s Strawberry Banana Smoothie I had not too long ago but my homemade smoothie is much healthier and lighter on calories!
What’s the best blender for making a smoothie?
My favorite, by far, blender for making smoothies is the KitchenAid ProLine Blender. It’s super powerful and even has a smoothie setting that processes the ingredients perfectly, quickly with the best and smoothest results. It’s on the spendy side (over $100) but if you’re making smoothies on the regular this powerhouse will surely keep up with the demand.
Next up, at a lower price point, is the Ninja….we’ve had the same appliance for over 5 years now and it was under $100. I don’t think I’ve ever had an appliance last that long for so little money. This, also, is pretty powerful at whipping up the creamiest smoothies ever.
So, there you have it….everything you need to help get you (and me) back on track with the healthy eating. Let’s just keep the cake and cookies to the weekend….ok? I’m not really telling you….I’m kinda telling myself.
