Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. I’m feeling especially Christmas-y today because I took my little guy to meet my parents at the Gaylord National Harbor this weekend to check out their ICE exhibit. If you’re not familiar with the event, it’s a huge room all decked out for the holidays with bright and cheery holiday ice sculptures. It’s really spectacular…and cold because they whole thing is housed in a building that’s kept at a balmy 9 degrees. Yeah…9. Just 9. And they provide parkas for everyone to wear but….9 degrees. Nothing can keep you warm in 9 degrees. Landon and his cousins had an absolute blast begging their “pop” to take them on the ice slide over and over again. It was a lot of fun to watch them inhale the magic that is Christmas and I FINALLY feel like getting into the spirit myself. I’ll share more (with some photos, of course) about the event this week but if you follow me on Instagram you probably already saw some of the fun in my story over the weekend.

But in the meantime, I’m going to share something new to the blog (but not new to most of you I’m sure) Sugar Cone Christmas Trees. They’re a lot of fun for the kids to make and I shared them first last Christmas eve on Fox 29. Sometimes they catch me at the last minute and I only have a couple of days to come up with some items for the segment so I shared these easy to make trees because we’ve been making them for years. They’re a great activity for kids when the parents are enjoying company or making dinner and they’re super cute to have around the house as a decoration…if you don’t eat them first. I demonstrated how simple they are to make along with these Rice Krispie Treat Santas and my favorite Snowman Marshmallows. All so simple and fun for the kids.

To make the Sugar Cone Christmas Trees look all fluffy like a real tree, I used a piping bag fitted with a star tip and just pressed  some star shaped dots of green frosting all over to cover the cone. Landon and I decorated the trees with mini M&M’s inserted sideways so they look like little lights and wrapped shoestring licorice around for the garland. Then we topped with a candy cane gingerbread man….because I couldn’t find stars. But you can totally use whatever candy you like to decorate your trees.

So, how’s that for an easy Monday? Don’t you want these for dinner? I know I do….but I guess I should eat my veggies first.
