Christmas Ornament Cocktail
There’s nothing more fun and festive than a Christmas Ornament Cocktail! It’s a vodka cocktail all dressed up with Cointreau, cranberry juice and orange juice. Garnish it with fresh rosemary and cranberries for a deliciously cheerful beverage!
Christmas Ornament Cocktail
I love a good Christmas cocktail. There’s just something so warm, cozy and FUN about sipping on a mug of eggnog that’s cheerful and boozy while decorating the tree or watching Christmas movies! I’m also a big fan of Christmas parties with friends and family to share a Christmas Charcuterie Board, so you can only imagine my enjoyment every year when I grab the cranberries and my favorite cocktail shaker.
With all of that being said… this Christmas cocktail in an ornament is my absolute favorite yuletide cocktail of them all. Why? Because it’s so over the top! Head to your local store (Walmart and Target work just fine) and grab some big glass or even plastic ornaments that’ll fit your drink and garnishes. If you want to hear a chorus of “ooh” and “ahh,” serve these beauties at your next party.
Besides being photogenic as can be, this cocktail recipe is also delicious! It’s very similar to a cosmopolitan. Vodka is the liquor of choice and it’s made fruity and smooth with Cointreau, orange juice and cranberry juice. It’s sweet, tart, and spiked just enough to fill you with Christmas cheer. Go grab your ornaments and shaker and let’s get started!
Ingredients
Take a quick look at these notes before you head to the liquor store!
- Vodka – Use a trusty middle of the road bottle of vodka. You don’t want it to be super cheap, but you also don’t need a pricey top shelf option either.
- Cointreau – This orange liqueur gives the cocktail such great tangy flavor! You can also use it in my favorite margarita recipe.
- Cranberry Juice – This gives the cocktail the signature festive flavor it needs. I love that it adds a tart flavor and gorgeous red/pink hue.
- Orange Juice – I prefer no pulp so my cocktail is totally smooth.
- Garnishes – Just a few fun garnishes include rosemary sprigs, frozen cranberries and/or pomegranate arils. Comment below and let me know how you garnished your ornament cocktails!
How to Make Christmas Ornament Cocktails
Shake, pour, sip and enjoy! Oh, and don’t forget to garnish. For more info, scroll down to the bottom of this page where you’ll find the full recipe card.
- Shake! Fill your cocktail shaker with ice before you pour in the vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice and orange juice. Give it a good couple of shakes to combine.
- Prepare the ornament. Set the ornaments on something to stabilize them so they don’t fall over. A napkin ring works well! Place a funnel in the opening at the very top of the ornament.
- Pour and enjoy. Pour the drink evenly between two ornaments. Garnish with frozen cranberries, rosemary sprigs and/or pomegranate seeds. Serve right away with a straw.
How to Make In Advance
Shake up a big batch of these Christmas cocktails and keep them stored in a pitcher in the fridge until you’re ready to serve. Do NOT store them with ice in the pitcher – the ice will melt and water down the drink. You can keep the pitcher stored in the fridge for a few hours before the party starts. Pour and garnish when you’re ready to serve.
You don’t want to garnish the drink too soon or they may go limp. Fresh rosemary and frozen cranberries are best when they’re first placed in the drink, not after hours of sitting there.
