Boursin Cheese Pasta
Boursin Cheese Pasta is the ultimate comfort dinner! Pasta is coated in thick, creamy boursin cheese that’s thinned out just enough with some chicken stock to form the best saucy consistency. Other flavorful additions like garlic, parmesan and peas make this pasta dinner so crave-worthy!
Boursin Cheese Pasta
This recipe takes my two favorite things – Boursin cheese and pasta – and turns it into the best dinner ever. You can use any kind of pasta you want in this delightfully versatile recipe! Any kind of pasta coated in creamy, flavorful boursin cheese sauce is a treat so use whatever you have on hand. Spaghetti, linguine, gemelli, even something small like ditalini all work well.
I’ve seen so many recipes that just melt down the Boursin cheese, mix it with a little pasta water and call it a day. Is that delicious? Absolutely. But… I feel like there’s room for improvement. That’s why this recipe takes Boursin cheese and elevates it with chicken stock, garlic, onions, peas and parmesan cheese.
I also love garnishing my serving with some crushed red pepper flakes for a little added kick. You can skip that if you’d like, of course! Fresh parsley is another garnish that adds a pop of vibrancy to the dish. Really, it’s pretty hard to go wrong with this fail-proof recipe. Serve it as a main or a side with something like oven baked chicken breast for the best dinner ever!
How to Make Boursin Cheese Pasta
Here’s a sneak peek at just how easy this boursin pasta recipe is! For more detailed step by step instructions, just scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of the page.
- Cook the pasta. Cook the pasta of your choice according to package instructions. The goal is to cook it until al dente.
- Sauté the onions and garlic. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and cook until softened. Then, stir in the garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
- Make it cheesy! Add the chicken stock and bring to a boil. Once boiling, stir in the Boursin cheese and cook until melted. Reduce the heat to low.
- Toss it all together. Before draining the pasta, reserve 1 cup of the water it was cooked in. Then, transfer the drained pasta to a skillet and toss it all together to coat. Add the pasta water until the desired consistency is reached. Cook for a few minutes to warm it up and stir in the peas.
Storing and Reheating
Wait for the creamy Boursin pasta to cool to room temperature prior to storing in an airtight container in the fridge. Properly stored, your leftovers will stay fresh for about 2-3 days. Reheat for just 30 seconds at a time (or less) in the microwave, stirring each time it stops, until warmed all the way through. Be careful not to scald the creamy sauce by overheating!
Why do I need to use pasta water?
It is VERY important to remember to reserve some of the water the pasta was cooked in before draining it! It’s starchy and will help thin the Boursin sauce out to the very best consistency. Plus, it helps the sauce really cling to the pasta. Add just a little bit at a time until you reach the desired consistency for your pasta sauce.
What kind of Boursin cheese do I use for pasta?
For this recipe, I like to use the original Boursin cheese (garlic and herbs). Feel free to experiment with other kinds if you’d like! Just note that some of the various flavors may or may not pair well with the garlic and onions in this recipe, so take that into consideration.
If you can’t find Boursin cheese in the store, it’s easy to make at home using my homemade Boursin recipe.

Hi Kellie
Could I add shredded chicken to the pasta to make it a complete meal? Also , you say add peas but there is no peas amount in ingredient list
I enjoy your recipes so much
You can definitely add chicken to the recipe, it would be fabulous. And thank you for letting me know about the peas, I’ll check it out now.
