Hey guys!  It’s FRIDAY!!!  And I really put a dent in my holiday shopping this week, I’m soooo proud of myself. So, there is a possibility that I won’t be a crazy lunatic lady during the month of December. Right now, my biggest struggle is finding my musical groove.  Yeah, weird but music usually sets the tone of my mood and my usual playlist isn’t cutting it.  And I keep trying to change things up with the Christmas music but I don’t think I’m ready because after one song I have to change the station.  Today….it was Mozart.  That was what took me to my happy place and I jammed in my car with a Gingerbread Latte in hand.  We’re almost there holiday tunes….almost. Maybe next Friday.

In the meantime….let’s talk about something sweet. And tart….and buttery and so crazy yummy.  This is one of my favorite times of the year because pears…you know how I feel about pears (HELLO…Pear Tarte Tatin!)….and cranberries in all their tart glory can come together in perfect harmony….just like Mozart. This Cranberry Pear Crisp….it’s like a burst of fall flavor right on your tongue, the sweet/tart blend of heaven with a crispy, butter top. It’s like Grandmom popped in for a visit and whipped up something to wrap you in a warm hug….like a fluffy knit sweater for your tastebuds.

And this Cranberry Pear Crisp couldn’t be simpler to make.  Just peel some pears and chop them up…try not to eat all of them because they’re fabulous this time of year.  Toss in a bowl with sugar, flour, cinnamon and cranberries. Pour in your favorite casserole dish and top with the crispy oat crumbs. Bake until bubbling…..it’s ok, you can watch.  And then let it rest or you’ll singe your tongue something fierce…..leaving no tastebuds left for your Thanksgiving turkey.

Served warm or room temperature, this Cranberry Pear Crisp is fabulous with a scoop of vanilla ice cream….or even better, this Chai Spiced Ice Cream.  Live on the edge…flip on some Mozart and waltz around the kitchen with bowl in hand.  Happy Weekend, my friends!
