Why I Love This Air Fryer Burger

I’m all about easy dinners that taste like I put way more effort into them than I actually have. These burgers are one of those recipes that impress the family without much effort.

Quick cooking time – ready in under 15 minutes!

Juicy and flavorful thanks to a buttery seasoning mix.

Healthier option since the excess fat drips away in the air fryer.

Perfect every time without firing up the grill or dealing with stovetop splatters.

It’s a game-changer for busy nights when you want a comforting dinner but also don’t feel like scrubbing pans afterward.

Air fryer burger ingredients

Ingredients For My Air Fryer Burger

Here’s what you’ll need to make these burgers (don’t worry, the full measurements are in the recipe card below).

  • Ground beef – I like 80% lean ground beef for the juiciest burgers. You could swap for ground turkey, chicken, or even plant-based “beef” if you want a lighter version.
  • Butter – Brushed on the patties for richness. Olive oil works just as well if you’re keeping it dairy-free.
  • Burger seasoning – Any store-bought blend works, but you can also make your own with my homemade Burger Seasoning.
  • Worcestershire sauce – I love Worcestershire sauce for that irresistible savory depth. Soy sauce or coconut aminos make great substitutes.
  • Black pepper – Freshly ground pepper is best, but pre-ground works in a pinch. If you’re using hamburger seasoning you can skip the extra pepper.

The beauty of this recipe is how adaptable it is, you can really make it your own with whatever you have on hand.

How to Make Air Fryer Burgers

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 395˚F.
  2. Shape the patties. Form your beef into four even-sized patties, slightly larger than your buns since they’ll shrink as they cook.
  3. Season. Mix the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, and burger seasoning together, then brush it over both sides of the patties. Sprinkle with black pepper, if using.
  4. Cook. Arrange the patties in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 7 minutes, flipping halfway through, for medium doneness. For well-done burgers, add 2 extra minutes to the cooking time.
  5. Add cheese (optional). If making cheeseburgers, place a slice of cheese on each patty during the last 20 seconds of cooking.

How to Store Leftovers

If you have leftover burger patties, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, pop them back into the air fryer at 350˚F for about 3-4 minutes until warmed through. You can also freeze cooked burgers, just wrap them tightly and freeze for up to 2 months.

Kellie’s Tips for the Best Air Fryer Burgers

  • Want that diner-style flavor? Butter and toast your burger buns before assembling. You can do this in the air fryer but I like to do it in a skillet over medium heat while the burgers are cooking.
  • Don’t overcrowd the basket, cook in batches, if needed.
  • Add a little water to the bottom of the air fryer basket if you notice smoke from the fat rendering and dripping to the bottom of the air fryer.
  • Always let the burgers rest for a minute or two before serving. This keeps them extra juicy and gives the juices time to redistribute through the burger.

Prep: 5 minutes
Total: 5 minutes
Servings: 4
Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection in minutes, these Air Fryer Burgers are the ultimate easy weeknight dinner. Make them classic or turn them into cheesy Air Fryer Cheeseburgers with just one extra step.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 pound 80% lean ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon burger seasoning
  • 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat air fryer to 395°F.
  • Form beef into 4 patties, about 3/4-inch thick and press your thumb gently into the center to create an impression. This step will keep your burgers from shrinking into a ball.
  • Whisk butter, Worcestershire sauce, and seasoning in a small bowl with a whisk until smooth. Brush the butter mixture over the burger patties and season with pepper.
  • Arrange the burger patties in the basket of an air fryer leaving room in between each burger. (Work in batches if needed).
  • Air-fry the burgers for 7 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time, for medium doneness. Add 2 minutes for well-done.
  • To make cheeseburgers, top the burger patties with cheese in the last 20 seconds.

Notes

Cooking times may vary depending on the brand and size of your air fryer.
Add water to the bottom of the basket if your air fryer seems smokey from the fat dripping into the bottom of the air fryer.
Ground chicken, ground bison, ground turkey, or plant-based meat alternatives are all great substitutions.
