Watermelon Feta Salad
Summer is on the horizon and, even though it’s still chilly here, watermelon is definitely on my mind. I love a juicy, mouthwatering slice of freshly cut watermelon where it just runs down your arm when you take a bite. There’s something so refreshing about watermelon still warm from the summer sun.
But throw it in an amazing Watermelon Salad and things just get even more heavenly.
This easy Watermelon Feta Salad is loaded with cucumbers and blueberries for a big bowl of summer flavor you can enjoy all year.
I love how quickly it comes together with easy to find ingredients and the salad dressing whips up in a matter of seconds.
Ingredients
There are some recipes I make and then forget all about them….not this one. In fact, my husband has been BEGGING me for weeks to PROMISE to make this Watermelon Salad recipe again.
Which is not a problem because I only got to take a few bites of this one before he devoured the whole bowl himself. And since it takes minutes to whip up (especially if you buy precut watermelon!!!) I don’t mind throwing it together on the regular.
This Watermelon Feta Salad recipe is made with just a handful of ingredients that are easy to find.
- Watermelon
- English Cucumber
- Blueberries
- Feta
- Basil
The Watermelon Salad dressing is made with just apple cider vinegar, honey, olive oil, salt and pepper.
The dressing isn’t absolutely necessary because this salad is amazing all on it’s own but it definitely pulls all the flavors together into one cohesive dish!
How To Make Watermelon Feta Salad
This easy salad is ready in about 15 minutes. Most of the time will be spent chopping so it’s fairly simple.
- Cut the watermelon into bite sized pieces or scoop it out with a melon baller. Add to a large bowl.
- Dice the cucumber into bite sized pieces and add to the watermelon.
- Add the blueberries to the salad.
- Cube the feta cheese into 1/2 inch pieces and add to the salad bowl.
- Whisk the dressing ingredients in a small bowl.
- Pour the dressing over the salad.
- Chop the basil and add to the salad.
- Toss the salad to combine the ingredients.
- Chill and serve
English Cucumber vs. Regular Cucumber
So, the English cucumber used in this recipe is the same variety you’ll find wrapped in plastic wrap at the store. They don’t have a waxy coating so there’s no need to peel them and the seeds are digestible so you won’t have to scoop them out.
Regular cucumbers have a tougher skin that’s coated with wax so they do need to be peeled and they have a ton of seeds. You would need to take the extra step to scoop them out.
Serving Suggestions
I wanted to create a refreshing salad that would cool you off without the need for ice cubes. 🙂
Glasses of water and lemonade are helping a bit but when you want to EAT something….this Watermelon Feta Salad will totally be a hit with anyone that shovels it into their mouth. And believe me when I say….they will be shoveling.
I love to serve this Watermelon Blueberry Feta Salad as a side dish with Barbecue Chicken and Corn on the Cob. Now does that menu not scream summer??? I can hear it….loud and clear. This, my friends….is how I summer. 🙂

I made this salad last week when we had hot weather. It’s very refreshing. My husband and I both liked it very much and the dressing really makes it. I did add just a little more honey to balance the vinegar, otherwise changed nothing. Thanks so much for this.

I’m so glad you loved it! Thank you for your comment!
Great summer salad. Thanks to the comments of others, I assembled the salad early in the day, but left off the feta and the dressing. This worked out very well. Salad has delicious summer flavors. Served it as a side with grilled pork chops.
Thank you so much!
I made this but instead of watermelon i used cantaloupe and it was wonderful!
What a great idea!!! I’ll have to try that.
The recipe says make up to 8 hours ahead, and I put it together about 3 hours ahead. However, I would recommend NOT putting the dressing on if you make it ahead. It did get really watery and not nearly as attractive as when the dressing is first put on.
Thank you for your tip! You don’t have to make it in advance but a lot of people requested the details if they were to make ahead. Thanks again!
Loved this even without the feta. Best if eaten the same day. Didn’t find it to keep well in the fridge (became watery and lost flavor). Delicious way to use up over abundant cucumbers from the garden.
Thank you, Becky! It is best the same day but we did enjoy it just as much the next day.
