Snackle Box
The internet never ceases to amaze me. When I first heard the term snackle box, I was obsessed. As you may already know, I’m a pretty devout fan of boards of all kinds. In fact, I even wrote a book about my love for dessert boards! So, you can imagine my excitement when I first saw that the game has been forever changed for boards by making them portable.
Whether I’m headed to the beach, to the park, or I’m just out running errands – snackle boxes have become my new go-to! I love that they’re so simple but so effective. I can make each person in my family or friends group their very own box that’s customized with all of their favorite little bites. Fruits, veggies, candies, cheeses, meats, the list is never ending.
Snackle boxes are going to be the star of my summer this year. I plan on hitting the beach and going on car trips pretty frequently, and you can bet I’ll be bringing my new favorite grazing box with me! All of my favorite snacks all tucked away in their various compartments, not touching each other, and ready to eat – it’s almost too good to be true. And yes, these boxes are ALWAYS a hit at parties!
How to Make a Snackle Box
Here’s how to toss together your newest obsession!
- Clean it. When you find the perfect snackle box (either online or in the fishing aisle of your local Walmart), clean it! Run it through the dishwasher or wash it by hand. Once it’s nice and dry, you can line all of the compartments with parchment paper or leave it the way it is.
- Assemble the snackle box. This is the fun part, obviously! Fill each little cubby with alternating ingredients of your choice. I like to place ingredients next to each other that are complimentary. For example, placing blackberries next to kiwis or meats next to cheeses is always encouraged.
- Don’t forget the essentials. Now that you’ve got all your snacks ready to go, you’ll need a few other things. Don’t forget to dress up your snackle box with napkins, cheese knives, toothpicks, or any other essential utensils.
- Enjoy! Close the lid of your snackle box and keep it stored in the fridge until you’re ready to serve it. It’s a great idea to assemble your box the day before you plan on serving it so it’s ready to go when you are!
We love this telescoping box for packing a grown up Snackle Box! The stacking layers make the presentation a little more extra and you can add ice packs to the bottom to keep things cool.
This box has removable dividers to easily customize your snackle box. I love this version for beach trips and road trips because it fits neatly on your lap. Pro Tip: Buy two because you won’t want to share.
What should I put in my snackle box?
There are so many different options! Here are just a few ways you can customize your boxes:
- Charcuterie – Take inspiration from charcuterie boards! Fill you snackle box with all kinds of meats, cheeses, jams and crackers to make the most perfect portable charcuterie board.
- Dessert – A box filled with various sweets and treats that I can take with me wherever I go? Yes, please! Grab your favorite store-bought candies and cookies or go the homemade route with recipes like easy homemade marshmallows, no bake monster cookie dough bites, and the best Rice Krispie treats.
- Kid-Friendly – Yes, snackle boxes are a wonderful idea for little hands! You can make their tackle boxes filled with kid-friendly snacks like crackers, cookies, cut up fruits, and so much more. If you really feel like showing off, make some homemade Cheddar Chex Mix!
