Hot Chocolate Charcuterie Board

Isn’t it kind of fun how the definition of “charcuterie board” has developed over the last few years? It used to be strictly meats and cheeses. While I still love a traditional meat and cheese charcuterie board, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t having a ball making all sorts of new creations!

If you were a fan of my spooky and vibrant Halloween Dessert Board, you’re going to LOVE this Christmas one!

This board is Buddy the Elf approved, I just know it! Sure, he’s a fictional character, but if he was real, he’d love this board with his whole elf heart. It’s loaded with tons of different options to pop into your hot chocolate, so no one mug will ever be the same as the next.

Everything about it inspires creativity, laughter, bonding, and Christmas cheer! If you’re looking for a real conversation starter at your Christmas party, this is most certainly it.

Even if your board doesn’t look exactly like mine, make sure it still has what mine has – variety! The whole purpose of this board is to have a bounty of options for your friends and family to dress up their cocoa.

When it comes to boards of any kind, I always believe it’s better to have too much instead of too little. You want people to be able to pick all their favorite flavors, so make sure you have something for everybody.

How to Make It

Pick your board. I used a large 24 inch round board which is the perfect size for a serving of 14-18 people. You can use a smaller board if you’re serving less people.

Make a river. Arrange the mini marshmallows down the center of the board to form the “river.”

Place the ramekins or mugs. Place three small ramekins on the board in a triangle shape. We have two mugs on this board but if you’re serving a larger crowd, you can fill those spaces with more candy, chocolate chips or bowls with caramel sauce. Feel free to let your creative juices flow!

Fill the bowls. Add the chocolate nonpareils, mint nonpareils and crushed peppermint to the bowls.

Arrange the snacks. Arrange the pretzel rods, cookies and chocolate around the board in a fan shape. I like to shingle the flatter items like the marshmallows and sandwich cookies to keep things tidy.

Add the final touches. Fill in the spaces with the remaining candies, cookies and chocolates.

Enjoy! Serve alongside a slow cooker or warming pitcher filled with hot cocoa.
