Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings

Just in time for football season, these easy to make garlic parmesan chicken wings are here to meet all of your appetizer needs! Baked to juicy, yet crispy perfection and flavored deliciously, these wings are always a huge hit at football parties and potlucks alike. They’re even great for treating your family to a weeknight chicken wing dinner! The best part is, no one will miss the fried wings they know and love so much.

So what’s my secret to the most perfect baked chicken wings? Too often, baked wings are a little lifeless and don’t have that crispy skin that makes fried wings so downright delicious. The secret to these easy-peasy wings is to bake them on a wire rack that’s placed over a baking sheet. This simple method elevates baked wings like crazy because it ensures that they crisp up all over while cooking!

The buttery sauce that coats the wings is what really seals the deal here. Similar to my favorite Honey-Habanero Wings and Easy Lemon Pepper Wings I made a butter sauce easy, simplistic, and SO addictive. It’s really just garlic, crushed red pepper, and parmesan. Being a no-frills recipe, the bold, yet minimal ingredients here really do the trick. If you’re planning on hosting the best Superbowl party ever, you’re going to want to use this quick and easy recipe!

How to Make Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings

  1. Prepare. Preheat your oven to 450°F and place a cooling rack over a baking sheet.
  2. Toss the wings. In a large bowl, toss the wings with olive oil, salt and pepper.
  3. Bake the wings. Arrange the wings on the rack in a single layer and not touching each other. Bake the wings in the oven for 10-12 minutes or until crispy and golden. Turn the wings over and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes or until done.
  4. Make the sauce. While the wings bake, melt the butter in a small sauce pan and add the garlic and crushed red pepper. Allow the butter to come to a boil and continue to cook until the butter solids start to turn golden. Remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to steep for a 5 minutes. Slowly stir in half the cheese. Set aside.
  5. Toss the wings in the sauce. Transfer the wings to a large bowl and pour the butter mixture over the wings. Add the remaining cheese, basil and parsley. Toss to combine thoroughly being sure all the wings are coated.
  6. Enjoy! Serve the wings while they’re still hot, and enjoy!

Pro Tips and Variations

  • The more crushed red pepper flakes you use, the spicier the wings will be. You can omit them entirely to get rid of that hint of spice, or double down on the amount you use to heat things up. Just remember that once the red pepper flakes are mixed into the sauce, there’s really no getting them out!
  • Remember to turn the wings over halfway through baking so they bake evenly.
  • If you want to double check that the chicken is ready, use a meat thermometer and insert it into the thickest part of a chicken wing. If the temperature reads at least 165°F, the chicken is fully cooked and safe to eat.
