Pumpkin Pie Milkshake

This fall, when you’re curled up on the couch watching your favorite movie under a cozy blanket, make sure you’re treating yourself to a truly scrumptious pumpkin pie milkshake! It’s perfect for setting the most amazing fall mood, as it has all of your favorite pumpkin pie ingredients in one perfect milkshake. It’s rich with real pumpkin flavor from the puree, but it’s also spiced with Pumpkin Pie Spice that really creates that perfect pumpkin pie flavor.

If you’re anything like me, you’re craving pumpkin pie from the end of August through the end of November! It’s one of my all time favorite desserts. The flavor of a pumpkin pie is so classic, it makes me feel warm and cozy every time I taste anything with that scrumptious medley of spices that accompany pumpkin so well. However, I get pretty tired of baking pumpkin pies constantly, if I’m honest. So, I’ve come up with a new way to enjoy my favorite fall flavor, and that’s with this easy milkshake recipe!

While the Caramel Sauce and whipped cream are totally optional, I highly recommend adding both additions to these milkshakes. After all, you’re already indulging in a shake – why not enhance it with some sugary, delicious extra flavors? In fact, you could have even more fun by topping off these fall-favorite milkshakes with candy corn, or even tiny slices of real pumpkin pie for the ultimate milkshake experience! Get your camera ready, as these shakes will be totally Insta-worthy.

How to Make It

Just like any good shake recipe, this recipe couldn’t be any easier to follow!

Blend. Place all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth.

Drizzle. Drizzle caramel sauce on the inside of three tall glasses.

Pour and top. Pour the milkshake into the  three glasses and top with whipped cream, if desired.

Enjoy! Serve immediately, and enjoy!

Variations to Try

  • Make this shake vegan-friendly by using a vegan ice cream and oat milk instead of regular ice cream and whole milk. It’ll still be tasty, just without the dairy! These are also wonderful substitutes if you’re not vegan, but lactose intolerant.
  • Pumpkin puree is ideal, as it provides real pumpkin flavor that’s enhanced by the other ingredients. Do NOT use pumpkin pie filling! However, you could always just buy a pie pumpkin, roast it, and make your own pumpkin puree if the store’s all out of cans.
  • For a real treat on top of your milkshakes, add some delicious Stabilized Whipped Cream. It’ll make each milkshake even more of a treat! Of course, you could always just use the whipped cream out of the can… No shame!

Helpful Tips for the Best Pumpkin Pie Milkshakes

  • Use vanilla ice cream. Don’t try to use a pumpkin pie flavored ice cream or any other fun flavors, as they’ll make the shake too sweet and overpowered with flavor. Pumpkin pie ice cream will not compliment the other pumpkin pie ingredients the way you may think.
  • When it comes to maple syrup, try your best to buy a real one! There are so many sticky, thick, sugary syrups out there that taste like all artificial sweeteners and no maple. Real maple syrup is available pretty much everywhere and will yield far more flavorful results!
  • Blend the ingredients until smooth, and don’t continue blending after that. Once smooth, the shake is ready to go! If you blend for too long, the consistency of the shake could lose its desired thickness and become watery.

  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Caramel Sauce, optional
  • Whipped cream, optional
