Brioche French Toast Casserole
Super easy to make Brioche French Toast Casserole with Fruit and Nuts is the holiday breakfast your friends and family will love. So simple to make (literally just a couple minutes of prep!), this recipe will be a holiday staple year after year.
Brioche French Toast Casserole
It’s almost here, Christmas is lurking around the corner and my little guy is going absolutely nuts with joy….or sugar. It’s hard to determine the source of the energy but it’s so much fun getting to plan the day with him.
We host a holiday brunch every year for my family on Christmas morning and a breakfast casserole is always on the menu. Each year I try to come up with something new like last year’s Monte Cristo Casserole which is, still, a huge hit! So, for this year…I wanted to come up with something equally amazing with tons of flavor but a little less work.
This Brioche French Toast Casserole is loaded with nuts and dried fruit making it a hearty, comforting breakfast that is perfect for holidays or leisurely weekend breakfasts.
Ingredients You Will Need
The ingredients list is pretty short and we love to use this homemade brioche but a store bought brioche or other study bread will work just as well.
- Brioche Bread or Challah, a buttery loaf packs the most flavor punch but use your favorite bread if you wish.
- Eggs
- Golden Raisins, you can use any raisin but I feel the golden raisins are a little less sweet.
- Chopped Dates. You can replace the dates with your favorite dried fruit like apricots or mango.
- Vanilla
- Cinnamon, Nutmeg and Clove
- Chopped Walnuts and Pecans, if you’re not a nut fan you can skip them or use your favorite.
How To Make Brioche French Toast Casserole
This easy French Toast Casserole recipe has every flavor you dream of when you think of the holidays. Crunchy, buttery nuts, rich cream, bursts of cinnamon, cloves….it’s like the most amazing version of French toast you could ever imagine.
- Cut the brioche into cubes.
- Whisk the eggs, half and half, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
- Toss the brioche together with the nuts and fruit.
- Pour the egg mixture over the brioche and toss to coat.
- Arrange in a baking dish and bake.
- Serve warm or room temperature!
- French Toast Casserole is very much like bread pudding so we may have enjoyed this with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert, too.
Serving Suggestions
This Brioche French Toast Casserole is so versatile and easy. We love to serve it alongside a few slices of bacon or breakfast sausage.
It’s also fantastic with a bright, fresh fruit salad or a slice of ham.

My favorite Aldi’s product is their dairy products eggs butter cream cheese cheeses everything is great quality & such better prices than the regular stores
I’m looking for “the night before” recipes I can prep on Christmas Eve!
You can make this one the night before, just cover and refrigerate. Allow to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before baking.
I loooooove their GF bread! It’s the closest to real bread I’ve gotten!
I love Aldi so much! My favorites are the Fit & Active 45 calorie bread and Fit & Active String Cheese. I swear these helped me so much losing weight and the prices for them are phenomenal compared to other brands. But there are so, so, so many other products that I love: Kirkwood stuffed chicken breasts, hummus, the single serve dark roast coffee, all of their great holiday goodies, wonderful cheap produce, and the list just goes on and on! I have a lot of Aldi feels, lol!! Thank you for the chance!
In my area Aldi has the cheapest milk and bread in town. I also like going in to find unadvertised deals, likely because they have overstock. Two times in the last month they had eggs for $.29. I felt like I was stealing them!!
I live in Georgia, so happy we have several Aldi stores to shop at. My most favorite item is their Sourdough bread can never get enough of it.
I haven’t tried the sourdough bread yet but I’ll certainly add it to the list for my trip this weekend!
Thanks for the recipe. Since I do 90% of the cooking, every tip is helpful
Thanks, Brian! They just opened an ALDI in Rio Grande, if you haven’t checked it out yet you should stop in…they have awesome deals!
I go to Aldi to buy frozen shrimp. It is a lot less expensive than at other stores.
I’ll definitely add the frozen shrimp to my list, haven’t tried that yet!
I love ALDI’s frozen fruit and chocolate selections.
Their chocolate is insane!
i love shopping at aldi (and they are actually opening one up near me in the spring…can’t wait! right now i have to drive a little ways). i love that they don’t have a million choices – it’s nice to just have ONE type of ___ to purchase instead of choosing from 596302 brands. also, i love their seasonal products – they always have interesting cheese/spreads/dips etc.
I love the seasonal products….all the cheese!
I do like my local ALDI too. Their canned veggies have great flavor and their wines are good also. I have not found anything that I bought there to be inferior to large chain grocery stores. Their produce is very good too. Their products are more reasonable priced and a bargain in my book. This Casserole sound great, can’t wait to try it.
I so wish they would sell wine at my ALDI but the laws don’t allow it. Thanks so much, Judy!
In my quiet part of rural northwest Wisconsin , I’ve met people who have driven one hour each way to shop at ALDI. The prices and quality are well worth the trip, so good, in fact, that I drove one half hour each way to buy ingredients for a slow cooked vegetarian meal , and it more than paid for my gas.
Oh my goodness! That is awesome!
I love my local ALDI! 🙂 We have found that we actually like the taste & quality of most of their store brand equivalents to many of our favorite national brand foods & snacks. And the produce can’t be beat! So much cheaper than the national chains. 🙂
Soon much cheaper! And we, actually, prefer ALDI brand over others for some products too!
I love Aldi!! I buy my oatmeal and pantry staples there because you just can’t beat their prices. Also.. their chocolates are AMAZING!
Ahhhhhhmazing!!!!
The best thing about shopping at ALDI is the product variety/selection, especially when it comes to their high quality gluten-free foods section.
Their gluten-free products are amazing!
