Creamy caramel apple dip is the perfect fall snack, whether it’s an after school pick-me-up or for a get-together with friends and family. This 5-ingredient recipe is easy to make and impossible to resist!

Caramel apple dip in serving dish

If caramel apples are your favorite fall treat, you’re going to love this cream cheese caramel apple dip. It has the same flavors—caramel and nuts, combined with tart apples—but then it has the added bonus of cream cheese. It’s always a huge hit whenever I serve it at fall gatherings and is an easy recipe made with simple ingredients.

The cream cheese makes this caramel apple dip richer, creamier (obviously), and a lot easier for dipping apples than straight up caramel, which has a tendency to drip all over and make a mess. (Especially if you have young kids.) It also adds a slight tanginess, which is a nice balance to the sweetness of the other ingredients.

Although this recipe is always a hit with the younger crowd, adults will love it too. I could even see it as a game day appetizer alongside your typical Baked Buffalo Wings. And with only 5 ingredients, it’s easy to whip up caramel apple dip as an after school snack with crisp apple slices or when you’ve picked a few too many apples at the orchard and need to use them up!

  1. Beat the cream cheese. Place it in a medium bowl and beat with an electric mixer until it’s smooth, creamy, and fluffy.
  2. Add the sugar. Beat it into the cream cheese.
  3. Assemble. Spread the cream cheese mixture in a serving dish, then pour the gooey caramel on top of the cream cheese layer and sprinkle with nuts.

Serve with fresh fruit, salty pretzels, crisp cookies or a spoon!

Tips and Variations for Caramel Apple Dip

Here are some pointers for making caramel apple dip, along with some ideas for putting your own spin on it.

  • Soften the cream cheese first. Make sure to bring the cream cheese to room temperature before mixing it, otherwise it will be difficult to combine with the sugar. When it’s fresh out of the fridge, it has a tendency to stick to the beaters.
  • Make it nut-free. Simply omit the nuts; if you want to replace them, you can use pepitas instead for crunch or add some flaky sea salt for sweet-and-salty contrast or sprinkle with crunchy toffee bits.
  • Add chocolate chips. Another topping option is mini chocolate chips.

Dipping Ideas

Wondering what to serve with this easy caramel apple dip recipe? Here are some of my favorite dippers.

  • Apples. Naturally! Fresh apple slices are the perfect pairing for this dip. Use a variety of apples for visual interest—as long as they’re firm apples that stand up to dipping, any variety will work. My favorite are Granny Smith apples because of the tart contrast to the dip.
  • Pretzels. Salty pretzel sticks or twists add a nice contrast to the sweetness of the dip.
  • Graham crackers. These pair so well with the flavors in caramel apple dip!
  • Cookies. Vanilla wafers, ginger snap cookies, or any other cookie that’s firm enough for dipping.

How to Store Leftovers

Cover the serving dish with plastic wrap or transfer leftover caramel apple dip to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. When you’re ready to enjoy the leftovers, let it sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes to soften slightly before serving—otherwise, it will be too firm to dip anything into!
