Fruit kabobs make school lunches more fun, sneak a little bit of nutrition into kids’ birthday parties, and keep you hydrated on hot summer days. Talk about multitasking!

They’re also SUPER easy to make, which is why I love them for parties, picnics, and backyard get-togethers. Not only do they take just a few minutes of prep, they can be made in advance, leaving you more time for party planning—or for making other party favorites like Boat Dip and Cucumber Sandwiches.

And let’s not forget about the Greek yogurt fruit dip, which is creamy, naturally sweetened with honey, and brightened up with the addition of lemon juice and zest. It’s a light pairing that keeps this fruit kabob snack healthy and nutritious.

With so many different fruits to choose from, the possibilities are endless, and you can customize your fruit kabobs to the occasion or to your tastes, but I like to go with a rainbow of fruits because they look so fantastic set out on a platter. You know what they say, we eat with our eyes first!

Ingredients for Fruit Kabobs

Here’s what you’ll need to make fruit kabobs. I’ve listed some alternate fruit options if you get to the grocery store if your first choice is looking funky and not fresh. (I don’t recommend using any fruit that browns quickly, like apples or bananas.)

  • Strawberries – Or another red fruit like cherries or raspberries.
  • Pineapple – Yellow kiwi or watermelon would also work.
  • Cantaloupe – Orange watermelon, papaya, peaches, nectarines, or mango are options here.
  • Kiwi – Swap in green grapes if needed.
  • Watermelon – Pink dragonfruit could be a fun option here, or you could use papaya as a stand in here too.
  • Orange – Tangerines or mandarins too!
  • Blackberries – Or swap in 3 or 4 blueberries. Purple grapes are another option.

For the Dip:

  • Greek Yogurt – Make sure to use plain unsweetened Greek yogurt, since we’ll be adding our own flavor and sweetener.
  • Vanilla Extract – I recommend pure vanilla extract for the best taste.
  • Lemon – You’ll need the juice and the zest, so zest the lemon first.
  • Honey – For some natural sweetness.
  • Wooden or Bamboo Skewers – You can find cute ones online with hearts, stars, and other doo-dads on the end, which are fun for kids’ parties!

More Fruit Kabob Dipping Ideas

Greek yogurt fruit dip is an excellent pairing with fruit kabobs, but it’s not your only option! Here are some more ideas.

  • Marshmallow Cream Cheese Fruit Dip – This dip is an absolute crowd-pleaser and it pairs well with all kinds of fruit!
  • Cool Whip – If you want to keep things really low effort, you can always crack open a tub of Cool Whip. (Hey, it tastes good, there’s no shame!)
  • Cannoli Dip – If you switch up the fruit a bit and focus on berries vs. melon and such, this cannoli dip recipe would be a fantastic pairing with fruit kabobs.
  • Whipped Cottage Cheese – Be on trend and blend cottage cheese with honey for sweetness and use that for dipping. A little orange zest mixed in is good too! Basically, it’s a sweet version of this Whipped Cottage Cheese Dip.
  • Fluffernutter Dip Recipe – When you want to add some peanut butter goodness to marshmallow fruit dip.

How Far in Advance Can I Make Fruit Kabobs?

You can prepare fruit kabobs up to a day in advance. Skewer the fruit and arrange the kabobs on a platter, then cover tightly with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator. If you have a large enough airtight container, you could also place the fruit kabobs in there and then transfer them to the platter when you’re ready to serve.

The Greek yogurt dip can be made up to 2 days in advance. Store it in an airtight container and give it a stir before serving.
