Crudite Platter

I feel like crudite platters have taken a backseat to Charcuterie Boards as of late. And while I’m certainly known for loving myself some charcuterie, I think it’s also high time that crudite platters get the love and recognition that they deserve! Too often, when you think of crudite platters, you think of the plastic containers from the produce section of the grocery store that have old carrots and limp celery. Well, think again!

A fresh crudite platter that’s well done will always catch the eye of dinner party-goers, or whoever else you’re serving it to. When it’s presented with fresh, vibrant vegetables and different dips, it’s all too alluring! While some people may coin it all as rabbit food, we know better – it’s a delicious, nutritious party appetizer that’ll give your waistline a break from all the tortilla chips, salty meats, and rich cheeses.

When arranged properly with all the right veggies, you’ll be surprised at how quickly your platter will go from full to empty. Even the most staunch meat and cheese lovers will dabble in the veggies and dips on your spread! There’s something in our brains as human beings that draws us to colorful, healthy foods, whether we realize it or not. If you’re looking to entertain with a rainbow of vitamins, minerals, and all natural flavors, this is the platter for you!

How to Make It

There’s no real way to arrange your board. While you can certainly try to arrange your veggies just like mine, feel free to also get creative and have fun!

Prep. Wash, slice and cook your veggies according to preference.

Arrange it. Arrange vegetables, dip bowls and add-ons on a large platter.

Enjoy! Serve your crudite platter, and enjoy! It’s perfect when fresh, but you can keep it covered with plastic wrap until guests arrive for an hour or so as well.

What You’ll Need

When it comes to a crudite platter, you can have a little fun and add all kinds of veggies and dips! With that being said, there are some staples you shouldn’t miss out on. Keep things classic with all of these tried and true ingredients! However, don’t be afraid to toss in your own unique options to make this platter your own.

For the veggies, you should pretty much always have:

  • Asparagus – blanched
  • Broccolini – blanched
  • Green beans – blanched
  • Sweet peppers
  • Sliced cucumbers
  • Carrots
  • Snap or snow peas
  • Cherry or grape tomatoes
  • Celery sticks

Make it flavorful with the following ingredients:

What is a crudite platter?

It sounds a lot fancier than it is! Also, just in case you were wondering, it’s pronounced “kroo-duh-tee” and is French in origin. I mean, it’s delicious and fresh – of course it’s gotta be French! Really, a crudite platter is just a platter of carefully arranged raw vegetables with one or multiple dips. While most crudite veggies are classically served raw, I like to blanch the green beans, broccolini, and asparagus to make them a tad bit tastier.
